چکیده
We demonstrate a duct muffler design that operates in the low-frequency range (<2000 Hz). The device contained pair of coupled annular Helmholtz resonators (HRs) and porous material stuffing. HRs were installed as side branches circular tube to avoid affecting ventilation. Porous materials employed form an asymmetric intrinsic loss HR enable achieve perfect sound absorption. An analytical model based on temporal coupled-mode theory was derived, numerical simulation technique for structural introduced verified. experimental study demonstrated effectiveness methodology illustrated can near-perfect absorption desired frequency range. A symmetrical configuration also experimentally proved be able conduct incident from both sides duct. This provides solid foundation application designed explanation corresponding mechanisms.

Deadlock-Free Absorption of Barrier Synchronisations
This paper validates and generalises an optimisation arising in the compilation of while loops in data-parallel languages for MIMD shared memory architectures. Dependencies in the source program force the introduction of global synchronisations in the target MIMD program; yet, an eecient compilation must decrease the number of these costly operations. In this context, Hatcher and Quinn have pro...
متن کاملDevelopment and Validation of Sound Transmission Loss Measurement System for Measuring Muffler Performance
Muffler is a part of the vehicle exhaust system that absorb or reflect sound waves to reduce exhaust noise. One of the most important determinants of a muffler performance is the amount of attenuation that has on its input wave; this parameter is known as sound transmission loss. Four - mic standard test is one way to determine this parameter which is used in this paper. In this study, a test d...
متن کاملExperiments on the low frequency barrier characteristics of cellular metamaterial panels in a diffuse sound field.
The metamaterial under investigation here consists of a periodic arrangement of unit plates in a grid-like frame such that there is a contrast in the local areal mass between cell interior and cell wall. In the low frequency range and under normal incidence this metamaterial panel exhibits a sound transmission loss significantly larger than the transmission loss of an unstructured panel with th...
متن کاملSound propagation in and low frequency noise absorption by helium-filled porous material.
Low-frequency noise is difficult to deal with by traditional porous material due to its inherent high acoustic impedance. This study seeks to extend the effective range of sound absorption to lower frequencies by filling a low density gas, such as helium, in the porous material. Compared with conventional air-filled absorption material, the helium-filled porous material has a much reduced chara...
متن کاملA theoretical model to predict the low-frequency sound absorption of a helmholtz resonator array.
A theoretical method based on mutual radiation impedance is proposed to compute the sound absorption performance of a Helmholtz resonator array in the low-frequency range. Any configuration of resonator arrangement can be allowed in the method, while all the resonators may or may not be identical. Comparisons of the theoretical predictions with those done by the past studies or experiments show...
